Ashley Cricket Club

Ashley CC celebrated a successful 2021 with an awards night at the club straight after the last senior game of the season.
Highlights included:
  • 2nd XI runners up and promoted to Division A of the Cheshire Cricket League, captained by old boy Matt Wardle
  • Former AGSB pupil Alex Morfitt hitting an unbeaten 112 for the 2nd XI against Macclesfield
  • Very old boy Dave Alves was the leading wicket taker in the whole club, with 57 wickets at an average of 12.97, including best figures of 6 for 24

With 5 senior weekend sides, a midweek Vets team and 7 junior sides from ages 9 to 18, the club continues to provide cricket playing and training facilities for all sectors of the community

With so many teams playing at Ashley many of our home matches take place at Rostherne CC, with whom we have built a great relationship over the past few seasons.

We have invested heavily in our facilities over the last two Covid-affected seasons, thanks to generous grants from the local authority and with the help of Crowdfunding initiatives we have a new kitchen complete with white goods, a revamped and improved ladies toilet, new ground machinery an electronic scoreboard (named after former player John Longworth) and an irrigation system that allows us to get water to the cricket square easily and with a powerful enough pressure so that we can water the whole square in a matter of minutes.

Our plans for 2022 and beyond include extending the outdoor viewing areas, cover for scorers (this has been made possible by a donation from the Astorga family in memory of two former pupils and players, Bill and Tom Astorga.

Details of training, fixtures and social events will be online soon, please go to @CricketAshley on Twitter or search for Ashley Cricket Club on Facebook
