2023 AGM Agenda and Reports for Thursday 9th November 7.30pm

The 2023 AGM will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday 9th November 2023. The committee will be meeting in person at the school but EVERYONE is welcome and encouraged to join the meet via a Teams link. As well as running over a number of reports (which will be shared on the Old Alts web site beforehand), there’ll be a chance to catch up and discuss future events and opportunities to get together. It would be great to see as many Old Alts at the AGM as possible. If you’d like to join us, please email and we’ll send you the meeting link.

The Agenda and reports are here: AGM agenda and reports 2023

A night of Wine and Revelry – Tickets for Bacchae on sale now October 12th 2023

The Next of which is the school production of “Bacchae” –  their own modern rewrite of this Ancient Greek tragedy. Don’t be put off by the genre, it’s a riveting story. If you don’t know it, it is a play about the Greek god Dionysus, (god of wine and revelry) and his journey for retribution. The storyline is full of irony, cruel gods and revenge!

Tickets have now gone live on Eventbrite so if any Old Alts are interested click on the link below for tickets: A Performance of ‘Bacchae’ Tickets, Thu 12 Oct 2023 at 19:00 | Eventbrite

2023 Golf Day – Fri July 7th. Book Now!

On the tee……You if you hurry! Limited places now ready to book for the Old Alts Golf Day. Friday July 7th, 9am, Chorlton GC.

Whether you’re a single figure demon or just started playing, the Old Alts Annual golf day is a great day for all golfers of all abilities. The unique aspect of our event is that it is a mix of Old Alts as well as current staff and pupils.

Some have asked if you have to be a member of a club, or a decent golfer, or both to play in this event. The answer is that it’s very much open to all.

Come along on your own or bring some of your ex-AGSB pals and prepare yourself for a great day out both on and off the course.

Tee times are strictly limited, so please confirm your place as soon as possible.

  • Format is a singles stableford, played in 3’s or 4’s
  • First tee time: tbc
  • Cost – tbc but approx. £30 inc golf and Chorlton’s famous buffet.

Join the Head & Old Friends at Blanchflower for our 2023 Annual Dinner.

Tickets are selling well – only about 10 left so please book asap if you would like to join us.

Phil and his Blanchflower team were really keen to understand what would work best this year and so we gave them an insight into the origins of the extraordinarily high standard of the Old Alts palette. Forged in the AGSB canteen, the Bath Street chippy, the Caspian kebab house, Canadian Charcoal Pit and The Railway’s pickled eggs, it’s hardly surprising that the Old Alts have eclectic tastes.

Armed with this insight, (ignoring it mostly), they have put together a fabulous menu, full of flavour and a healthy dose of comfort. It really does sound fantastic.

Groups of tickets and single tickets have already sold to Old Alts from the 50’s through to the 90’s and into the 00’s. So we’re guaranteed a good representation from across the years. I understand from those who’ve booked, that many are planning to meet up with friends for pre-drinks at the nearby Altrincham Market, Cheshire Tap, Belgian Bar or Con Club. Others are heading straight to the venue. Either way, it’ll be a great night for the Old Alts for sure.

Tickets are very much limited and we are down to the last 10  so please do get your table or seat confirmed as soon as possible –  see below for details.

Whilst it’s a ‘smart-casual’ format, there’s still plenty of room for important association traditions – the Head Master will be in attendance to share the latest school news, the raffle will entertain and reward once again, we’ll light candles to remember those Old Alts who have since passed and most importantly, friends old and new from AGSB will be with you to share the experience.
